Okay so we didn't get our usual newsletter with our delivery this week so there is one thing I'm not quite sure of... it's the leafy green you see at the top right.  It looks very similar to spinach but I don't think it is.  We also received broccoli, which I have an awesome recipe for and can't wait to use it... and Kohlrabi... it's similar to turnips I believe.  Can't wait to try that!

As soon as we receive our newsletter I'll make sure to post more details!

So excited about this Monday's delivery!!  We got Chard, Spring Onions, Lettuce, Sugar Snap Peas, and our herb transplant is Lovage!

I looked up as much as I could about Lovage and I found some really interesting stuff!  It's an older herb that's not as popular today and it's very comparable to anise and celery!  The leaves can be used in replace of salt once dried and can also be steeped for an herbal tea.  The entire plant is edible and can be used medicinally!  Which works out great for my interest in herbal education!

Oops!  I forgot to post about our Monday's CSA delivery!  Okay so right when I think I have had my fill of green onions... I think of my yummy fried rice!  It also dawned on me the other day that there was this chicken recipe I used to make a long time ago that not only involved green onions but brown sugar and soy sauce... It was delicious!  So I'm going to try and see if I can make that from memory on Saturday... but just in case it doesn't work out I'm keep bean burritos on the menu.

Our transplant this week was Thyme!  I had no idea that we would be getting transplants and I can't express how thrilled I am!!  To sum up we now have a mini herb garden of Basil, Marjoram, Thyme, and Chives... we also got Parsley on Monday as a little surprise from a fellow CSA member who planted too many.

In the bags are a Spring Mix and Kale... I'll have to look up some more salad dressing recipes as well as Kale recipes (feel free to comment with any Kale ideas you may have) but I am LOVING being a CSA member and can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings us!

Today from our CSA we received more spring onions and radishes, some beautiful Romaine lettuce and a transplant of chives!

Tonight we made a delicious stir fried rice with our delicious green onions... Tomorrow I think I'lll make a Romaine salad for after dinner.

I think with the radishes this week I'm going to try making some radish butter that I recently hear of... I'll give it a try and if it turns out yummy I'll post the recipe!

Last week my radishes spoiled a little bit too quickly for me... I must not have been the only member who this happened to because in our CSA newsletter that we receive with each delivery, it stated to cut off the tops of radishes and store the radishes in water in the refrigerator!  We'll see if it works!

Oh... and did you know you can eat radish greens?  I sauteed some up for my husband last week in just a bit of garlic oil, added a bit of salt and pepper and he LOVED them!  So we'll be doing that again this week.  I've also read that you can throw radish greens into your smoothie for an extra boost of vitamins!  Whatever you do... just don't throw them away... Eat 'em up! :)
